Another "Ugly" Table

Im in the midst of working on a new project. Bought this table for $10 and spent way too much on paint for it....Cannonball from American Paint Company is the base coat covered with Shoreline. I am going to "wet distress" it as soon as my last Shoreline coat dries and cover it with Hard Coat by APC. Will post a pic of the finished product!

Second Wine/Decor Rack SOLD

I sold ANOTHER wine rack yesterday....WOOOHOOO. Someone had the b**** to offer me the cost of stain.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I ended up getting $25 for it which was $15 less than the last one but at least I still came out ahead.

Flea Market Find

So I found this odd little shelf/compartment "thingy" at a flea market for $5 and had no idea what it was...It was originally an ugly grey color and the cashier and several other workers also couldn't tell me what it was used for. I slapped a coat of this green paint on it (mixed with Webster's Chalk Powder) and sold her for $25. Having paid only $5 I wasn't scared of "ruining" it with the green paint but people really responded to it.

Masterpiece!!!

I finally finished my masterpiece! It turned out so great that I really don't want to sell, but I have nowhere in my home for it. I was TERRIFIED to use the dark wax but as soon as I started wiping it off, I saw how awesome this piece was going to turn out. My husband went from hating this table the minute I brought it home, to saying that he wouldn't mind if it stuck around!

Supplies!

I spent another lunch break yesterday running around trying to find supplies for my project and found them at a neat little store called Double-Take Decor (www.doubletakedecor.com) They carry Webster's Chalk Powder, wax and the wax brush that I needed. I've got my table painted but don't want to post pics until I have a before and after picture to give you the "full effect".

COLORS

On my short "30 minute" lunch break I sped down to the local Ace Hardware to pick up some paint swatches for my new project. I had a color in mind, but now I am utterly confused! The possibilities are endless. I do have to admit that colors SCARE ME!! I'm generally a neutral kinda gal but I'm trying to break out of my shell when it comes to design. I might wait until I can find some smaller pieces to REALLY play around with crazy colors.
I picked up this hexagon table for $30 and am SO excited to start my new project. I have spent countless hours researching and watching "YouTube" videos on applying chalk paint and finishing wax! Unfortunately I can't start just yet, because I don't have all the supplies....I still need chalk powder, paint, wax, and wax brushes, etc. I can't find a store in my town that carries the wax brushes so I will either need to order them online or drive 50 miles to Missoula and back. UGH.

Here is my initial inspiration piece that I found on Pinterest (www.ASwellPlacetoDwell.com) Love this color but I'm thinking I might try a warmer neutral OF COURSE!

First Sale

So my first "sale" was a couple months back, and I do have to admit, it felt SPECTACULAR! I had obtained a free pallet from work with no idea whatsoever on what to do with this lifeless piece of wood and nails. After putting a couple hours of elbow-grease into it, I had a masterpiece (hopefully the first of many). For a total cost of about $3.50 here is my end result. I ended up selling this on Craigslist for $40! It can be used as a wine/liqueur rack, a picture frame holder, etc., etc., etc.

*Dreams*

After spending the last two and a half years trying to find myself again after having a child, I finally realized I need some creativity in my life! As a <childless> young adult I loved taking on small projects around the house/refurbishing an old piece of furniture in my spare time. After becoming a mother, I couldn't even remember what spare time felt like....what little I had, was spent on the couch or curled up reading a book because I was too physically and mentally exhausted to do anything else after working a full day and wrangling a small "strong-willed" child until bed-time. (God bless her!) Luckily we are turning a corner, and my sweet daughter is becoming a little more manageable so I can get back to having a life!

My passion as a child was riding horses and I desperately would love to ride again. After finding a piece of property that I would LOVE to purchase, I decided that refurbishing furniture on the side may be just what I need for a creative outlet, and a little extra income (hopefully) to someday fund my dream of owning horses again and that little piece of Montana Heaven.
